Community Cultivation grant. . . .

Okay, officially from the Drupal Association: "The word is new year = new cycle for grants."

This is GOOD NEWS and buys us a bit more time to get our application in gear.

I still think getting it done and sent early in the new year will help, though.

I will keep adding bits to to the draft and encourage everyone to do the same.

D8-specific event funding.  Not sure if this is the same funding branch you were talking to the DA about:

Thanks, David. Yes, if we manage to tailor the sprint to a D8 release blocker within Kevin's concentration (the Media module) then it should qualify:

  • I am planning a Drupal 8 criticals sprint at my camp: A camp can request funding to bring in Drupal 8 branch maintainers or key contributors to lead work on a specific set of critical issues.

The more original, the better, and I think drawing in outsiders to pitch in to the sprint--or "barn raising" as I keep saying--the better our chances of landing a grant. The problem is, I'm not sure whether we can apply for both it and the Community Cultivation Grant, but can find out. Probably along with any other grant-related questions after our Tues. evening chat, since I can then pose all to my contact in the DA.

Good idea to try for this, though!!

UPDATE: I asked about applying for both the new Drupal 8 Accelerate fund and the Community Cultivcation grant. According to a DA insider, "The two programs are separate, so I suppose the answer is yes." . . .

Well then! When we talk tomorrow evening, let's consider what this could offer for us.
